Don't adore what is impossible

When I finished work on Friday I ended walking home, in the pissing rain, in flip flops. Never a good idea to get flip flops made from basket weave stuff wet, so of course one burst when I was halfway back. I had to just take it off and walk the rest of the way with one bare foot, with people giving me funny looks. Just as I got onto my road the other one burst too so I put them both in a nearby wheely bin and walked into my white carpeted house with muddy, wet feet. Effy from Skins moment.

Why do these things always happen to me? So anyway I was sat drying off when I heard a car beeping outside so I looked out and my Dad had come home with a new car for me and my Mum. It's a mini cooper sidewalk, pretty much identical to this. Ooh it was so exciting. I took it for a drive right away but stalled like 5 times LOL! It's soo hard to drive compared to my old VW Golf. The clutch biting point is like a millimeter off the floor, while the golf was as high as it could possibly get. I'm sure I'll get used to it although not looking forward to taking it to work as the car park is on the edge of the riverbank, with no fence... eek.

Saturday me and Mike went to Leicester to one of his Uni open days for Music Technology. We were both so impressed by the course and the facilities so think thats one of his favourites at the moment. The city seemed quite nice too but we didn't stay in town for long, just had a quick glance. We decided we couldn't be bothered driving all the way back so we went to Sheffield instead, as that's sorta halfway back to Stockport. Phoned travelodge and they had a really cheap room going so we stayed there and had a bit of a late night out with just the two of us. Loved it as it's been ages since I've been out anywhere except Congleton LOL.

I like Sheffield. Went to a few nice pubs then to Corp. Do like Corp as well, but kinda got my night ruined a bit. We were in the EBM room... EBM (VNV Nation type stuff, trance/dance for goths haha) is proper Mike's kinda thing. Ever since I've known him, it's always been his favourite type of music and he knows so much about it, so naturally I like it too now. We were just enjoying the music and watching a few people dance when this group of really OTT cybergoth dressed people started turning round and pointing and laughing at us. So we were like what the hell... then they came and walked past us and shouted 'SCALLIES' at us. OMG I can't believe I'm being judged by goths!! Aren't they always complaining that people judge them based on their appearance and clothes?

It's ridiculous. We love that type of music but we don't want to wear dread falls and head to toe Cyberdog. I don't get why people think they have to be one thing, one label like 'cybergoth'. We just wear what we want, which I suppose happens to be 'trendy' and we listen to all sorts of music. We have friends that are mixes of actual chavs, gangsta wannabes, emos, anime geeks... it doesn't make any difference. We couldn't stand to not just be ourselves and make our own decisions about everything XD I just do not understand why people can't get their close little minds around it. We are true individuals and if people don't like that they need to fuck off and get a life, not try and ruin our nights when they don't know a thing about us.

However later on in the night, and after a few drinks, we decided to just get up and dance anyway. We really got into it and I noticed the main guy that was saying stuff looked a bit intimidated and went to stand at the side. Lol @ you. So it ended up being a great night anyway. This is what we looked like btw (click for big pic) check out Mike's burberry hat and my gold hoop earrings.

Where is everybody! LJ has been so dead this weekend, but I guess it's because of the nice weather :) I've not posted recently myself. As I said in the last post, I've been hooked on The Sims 3. Does anyone else have it? It's soo good. I've made me and Mike on it, and we have 3 kids and live in a small but cute house XD LOL but we're getting old now and we'll die soon. I think I will cry when that happens. Me and Mike still can't live together in real life for another 2 years at least. I wish we could, but I gotta go to Japan anyway right? :3 People sneer at me when I tell them we will stay together and have a long distance relationship, but we're still so crazy about each other that I'm confident it will be fine.

Otherwise, work is going a bit better. It's not fun but it's bearable. Just look forward to the weekends. Yesterday we went shopping then to a BBQ at our friends house, which was fun. Today we had a picnic and some ice cream in Macclesfield park. Weight Watchers is going alright too. I've been going for 4 weeks now and have lost 4 pounds. It's not amazing but if I keep going at the same rate until I leave the UK then I will lose another stone :D

As I also said in the last post, my 21st party in Congleton was really good. Not a lot of my family could come down and neither could my friends that live far away, but it was still fun. Mike's Mum & her partner met my parents for the first time, it was kinda embarrassing but they all got along great and that made me happy, yay. My school friends Jo and Rhian came too and we laughed so much that I cried XD in the middle of the restaurant. The place we had the party in was really lovely and cosy. The food was excellent too. I had salmon teriyaki with garlic mash... omg I could eat it EVERY day. Put all the pics on my facebook incase anyone wants to see :P which incidentally is now http://www.facebook.com/laurencalder

I wanted to come write about how AMAZING <3 my 21st party in Congleton was, but I've been so engrossed in The Sims! Steph bought it for me on Saturday as a late birthday present XD I'll be back one day haha...

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday :) I had a nice day. Got lots of nice presents from my family and Mike, including this Vivienne Westwood necklace which I have wanted for ever, and a fair bit of cash for my Japan savings. I'm looking forward to Saturday as my cousin and Gran are coming down from Glasgow and we're going for a meal in Congleton with some of my friends. Jo is coming, yaaay! Mike's Mum and her partner Paul are also coming, which I'm sure will be lovely. Our parents have never met each other before so it's gonna be a little bit embarrassing, I really hope they all get along.

I'm really hoping it all goes well and is lots of fun, as my early party last Saturday in Manchester was a bit of a fail... I had a lot of fun till around 11pm, with going to Tampopos for dinner and then sitting in my favourite bar (The Font), but the less said about Jilly's the better really. Me and Mike went home to separate houses that night basically, it's the first time we've ever fallen out like that. However, the next morning I just drove around to where he was staying and we apologised and made up there and then. Despite all this though thanks to everyone that came, hope you guys enjoyed yourself ^-^;

I was dreading going to Weight Watchers on Monday as I knew I'd had a bad weekend of eating and drinking. As I expected I didn't lose any weight, but I didn't gain either so I can't really complain. I've tried to stick to it today, but I still have chocolates from my birthday left and I want to eat them all ;__; did 30 mins running today though because I KNEW I'd be tempted when I got home!! Gonna try my bestest for the rest of this week (except for Saturday night of course...) and even if I stay the same again that will be fine. 21st birthdays and diets don't mix. I just need to get right back on it come Sunday.

Hope everyone else is well and has been enjoying the sunshine~
2nd-Jun-2009 03:25 pm - Happy Birthday to me
I am 21 today! People keep asking if I feel any different but I don't. I was in work this morning but everyone got me a card, flowers and some chocolates (oh no the diet D:) which was nice considering I've only been there 3 weeks!!

Off to make myself pretty now as Mike is taking me out for dinner. Have lots of cards and presents downstairs waiting for me to open later too ^-^
Mike is offended that I called him a manual labourer as it makes him sound like a builder. I did used to think he was a builder when I was 15 though, as I had no idea what an engineer was. He is actually an 'instrumentation technician' XD also he's 25 and he doesn't care.
Hehe <3

I still haven't watched Lost!!
19th-May-2009 06:19 pm - Lets chat fat
I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting last night. Was shocked at how much weight I've gained comfort eating during my exams! At least I'm doing something about it now though. I'm supposed to eat 21 points a day. Today I have eaten 22 which isn't so bad for the first day I guess! I need to cut back on tea with milk at work as I didn't realise they were 1 point each. This is the first time I've joined something like this rather than trying to do it myself, so I really hope I keep it up.

Also bought the 'guide to eating out' because we go for food a lot. It's good to get an idea of what the best things to have are, rather than just guessing! The worst I found was Frankie & Benny's Bacon Cheeseburger which is 46 points OMG XD so that's 2 days worth of food for me basically. Mike was like 'but that's my favourite!'. He's skinny and a manual labourer though so I guess he can get away with it, on occasion :P

It's Mike's birthday tomorrow <3 I won't say how old he is or he'll get upset. I probably won't be around because I have work then going for a meal with his family so HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]the_mike

My 21st in 2 weeks :0 there's still time if anyone wants to come out in Manchester for our joint party on 30th! Let me know cause I can have some people staying at my house.

Ok now it's time for Lost season 5 finale... I don't want it to end!!
17th-May-2009 09:11 pm - Busybusy
Last week was so busy, I don't even know why! I just get so motivated from being at work so early that I spend my afternoons off doing a lot. In the past week I have been to the gym twice, been swimming 3 times and walked home from work twice. Really hoping to keep the exercise up and I'm also going to join Weight Watchers tomorrow as it's only going to cost me £2.75 a week with some coupons I have. Weight loss attempt #1000 here I come!

I'm sorry I've not been commenting and such <3

Got a busy week ahead of me again, but especially looking forward to going to a Mexican restaurant in Stockport for Mike's birthday on Wednesday. Have only got him a couple of little things so far but I think we're gonna go shopping in Manchester at the weekend after I (hopefully) get paid. Otherwise, not a lot has been happening... trying to sort my Japan flights but the prices keep fluctuating whenever I look online. So annoying.
